I can not believe it has been so long since my last post.
Things have changed at Little Lizzie. I'm no longer doing as many markets as I used to in fact this Christmas Season I'm not booked in to do any at all. I have restarted my Etsy Store after it being idol since 2013. For a last minute decision it seems to have been the right one as things are going well.
I decided to try and concentrate on using USDR (American Designer Ribbons) as much as possible at the end of 2015. That's going well, I still make the odd character based bow I mean sometimes you just have to make MLP or Shopkins ;) . Really though I've not seen a drastic change in sales or comments on the things I make, from cutting out the mass produced ribbons. Which is something I was told would happen (by other bowmakers).
Plans for the Blog
I have a whole stew pot of ideas in my head for the coming year. In amongst them are tutorials for the blog. So my plan is to start in the New Year with simple basics of bow making and slowly expand out from there.
So see you all in 2017 (I hope...... well it is the plan)

Welcome to 2014
So this year I hope to be more active on this Blog. Although I did have plans for that last year time just ran away and it never happened.
I do have plans for this year ... new products ...not just hair accessories , a new look which is I'm pleased to say already happening ( a deposit being paid this morning on my new logo design ... YAY!). i also hope to branch out into a few new market places so you might just see Little Lizzie popping up somewhere close to you soon.
At this time of year Little Lizzie is in full on School Accessory mode. This year I have again joined Claire from Princess Miyah Designs to bring Australian girls a comprehensive, and very pretty, range of school hair accessories. All of our items are made to order to match individual school uniforms so you can imagine the time it takes to match colours let alone make the items. But we do it because we love it.
This does all mean that I am completely under prepared for the first boutique markets of the year. With just a week to the first two Handmade Redcliffe and The Handmade Expo - Morayfield, I feel as though I need to make the days 36 hrs long this coming week so that I can have enough stock made for both events.
I have found time however to make two sets for the first Facebook showcase of the year that Little Lizzie is participating in. hosted by Charlie Blossom it has a theme of The Secret Garden and starts tomorrow night at 8pm Queensland time and runs through to Thursday .

How to make Baby Snap clips
I had a request to show / tell how to cover baby snap clips, so for those that are adventurous enough to try here it is.
You will need the normal supplies lighter, scissors, measure and hot glue gun. You need approximately 2.5" or 6.5cm of ribbon I prefer just to use it off the roll.

You will need the normal supplies lighter, scissors, measure and hot glue gun. You need approximately 2.5" or 6.5cm of ribbon I prefer just to use it off the roll.
You will need plain baby snap clips these vary in size from 26mm to 32mm in length and are 9mm wide which means that they fit perfectly into 3/8" ribbon (that's 9 or 10mm ribbon depending on make)
First heat seal end of ribbon and then slide it into the open clip if using a printed ribbon the print should be to the back of the clip
Close clip this will hold the ribbon in place while working. You must make sure that the ribbon edges are in line with the edges of the clip
Now for the glue
ONLY place glue on the metal clip.
Quickly fold ribbon over the top of glue lining up edges and pressing down. Glue will come out the sides of the ribbon but don't worry
Run lighter along the edges of ribbon this will remelt the glue and allow you to wipe off the edge with your finger
Cut off the ribbon and heat seal end. Allow enough ribbon so that it will just overlap the ribbon under the prong. Glue in place.
Now clip is complete :)
These clips can be decorated with rhinestones and Gems

September ALREADY!!!
Oh dear me where have the days gone..... It's September already soon it will be Christmas :0.
Still making clips and ribbons for Lizzies hair and with another new niece, Kathy, I now have 2 willing (or un-willing depending on the day) heads to try on new designs. I've been going weekly to the Old Petrie Town Sunday market so if you are in North Brisbane one Sunday you should come and see the entire range of items I am now producing. Since I've been at the market I have also decided to bring out of the closet a lot of the smocked and sewn dresses that I used to make several years ago. I've been looking at matching hair bows to the different outfits and selling as sets.
So busy all round in Lawnton.
Here are some of the resent additions to Little Lizzies range if you see something you like head over to Face book www.facebook.com/LittleLizzie2011 and leave a message or find me on Etsy.com
